Oregon Stalker Jailed After Harassing Federal Official and Traveling to Arizona With Weapons

Brian Thomas Balda (52) of Oregon has been sentenced to three years and three months in prison after a federal jury found him guilty of one count of Cyber stalking and one count of Interstate stalking.
According to the Arizona Department of Justice, for 10 months in 2023 and 2024, Balda engaged in a campaign of intimidation and harassment against a former U.S. government official.

The official received abusive and profane voicemails and text messages from Balda, who then traveled from Oregon to Arizona to confront his victim.
He was arrested near the victim’s home, and law enforcement officers seized a replica handgun, four knives, and a pair of binoculars in Balda’s car.
Sentencing took place on September 4, when Balda appeared before U.S. District Judge Angela M. Martinez in Tucson,, Arizona. Apart from the prison sentence, Balda was also sentenced to three years of supervised release.
