Oregon National Guard Troops Stuck in Limbo After Conflicting Court Rulings on Trump Deployment

Oregon National Guard troops had begun demobilizing after Judge Immergut blocked Trump’s deployment, but the recent 9th Circuit Court ruling temporarily staying the district court’s November 7 permanent injunction has left the troops in limbo.

Oregon Governor Tina Kotek said,  “I continue to demand that President Trump call off this ridiculous, unnecessary military intervention, send our troops home once and for all, and focus on real problems, not made-up ones.”

Governor Kotek commented that the ruling is deeply disheartening and frustrating to the National Guard troops’ families and employers, as well as the taxpayers footing the bill.

Adjutant General Alan R. Gronewold confirmed that the first 100 troops are currently demobilizing after the Oregon Military Department received notice from U.S. Northern Command that mobilized Oregon troops must prepare for one of two outcomes: demobilize or remain in federal status.
