Oregon Man Arrested in California for Christmas Eve Murder of Veterinarian

A Portland man accused of stabbing a New Jersey veterinarian to death is awaiting extradition from a Californian to New Jersey.

Cristian Custodio-Aquino (27) was arrested earlier this week by U.S. Marshals for the stabbing that occurred on Christmas Eve. He is facing a first-degree murder charge for the stabbing of Dr Michael Anthony (45) on 10 December 2024 in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

According to information released by U.S. Marshals, officers arrived on the scene at around 7 a.m. where they found the veterinarian. He was declared dead on the scene. His assailant was nowhere to be found.

Custodio-Aquino was found in California two months after the murder. His identity became known several weeks later by Cherry Hill police and officials from the prosecutor’s office.

The suspect is in custody in the Fresno County Jail.
