Oregon Has the Sixth Highest Rate of Alcohol Abuse in the Nation, New Study Finds
Nearly 130 of every 1,000 residents in Oregon abuse alcohol.
This shocking statistic has been revealed by personal injury law firm, Simmrin Law Group, which placed Oregon as the sixth most alarming rate of alcohol use nationwide.
Researchers analyzed alcohol abuse among adults 18 and older, using data from the Kaiser Family Foundation’s Mental Health Statistics between 2021 and 2023.
Oregon Average is 427,000 Cases Among 3.3 Million Residents
Oregon reported an average of 427,000 cases among 3,299,300 residents during that period.
The study measured and ranked each state based on the number of reported alcohol use disorder cases per 1,000 adults to identify states facing the most significant risks of alcohol addiction.
With an annual average rate of 129.42 per 1,000 residents, Oregon ranks 6th overall, and alcohol disorder in the Beaver State is 11.3% higher than the national average of 116.3.
A spokesperson from Simmrin Law Group says high rates of alcohol abuse in areas with smaller populations demonstrate that the problem is not isolated to larger, more densely populated states. He says the research highlights the need for targeted prevention, education, and support services.
