Oregon Democrats Call for Trump’s Removal Under 25th Amendment as Iran Ceasefire Takes Effect

Before the US-Iran ceasefire announced yesterday, Oregon politicians made calls to invoke the 25th Amendment to impeach President Trump.

Oregon Politicians Call For 25th Amendment To Be Invoked

Representative Val Hoyle (@RepValHoyle) said the President is too unstable to serve and wants the  25th Amendment invoked to stop him from doing further damage to the safety and security of the US and the world. On X, she said, “We should be called back to DC now to vote on the War Powers Resolution to stop the war.”

Congresswoman Andrea Salinas (@RepSalinas) couldn’t find the words to properly condemn how evil and deranged the situation is on a social media post. She called on Members of Congress, including Republicans who control all chambers, to do more than condemn this language. They need to put America first and stop this war. She said,

  • “Trump is not fit to command our military, and he certainly shouldn’t be trusted with the nuclear codes. He is not fit to be the leader of the free world, and he must be removed.”
  • “Trump is threatening that a whole civilization will die tonight. That’s a war crime. Full stop.”

Senator Ron Wyden (@RonWyden) called Donald Trump “deranged” and said he must be impeached and removed from office. Wyden said, “Republicans who don’t stop him will have blood on their hands, and anyone who carries out an order to bomb civilian targets will be complicit in war crimes and will be held accountable.”

Representative Suzanne Bonamici (@RepBonamici) called Trump unhinged and said he must be impeached or removed from office under the 25th Amendment. She noted that he has made dangerous and erratic comments, including threatening to kill a whole civilization, that threaten the safety and stability of the region and the world, over the past few days, and said,

  • “His illegal war has already caused the deaths of civilians in Iran and of American troops. The President’s words have weight, and his threats have consequences.”
  • “This must end now.”

US- Iran Two-week Ceasefire

The US-Iranian war, now in its sixth week, reportedly claimed more than 5,000 lives in nearly a dozen countries, including more than 1,600 civilians in Iran.

Less than two hours before President Donald Trump’s deadline for Tehran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face devastating attacks on its civilian infrastructure, he agreed to a two-week ceasefire with Iran late on Tuesday.

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council said Trump had accepted Iran’s conditions for ending hostilities, claiming the deal is a victory over the US.

On social media at around midnight, Trump said, “A big day for World Peace! There will be lots of positive action! Big money will be made … Just like we are experiencing in the US, this could be the Golden Age of the Middle East!!!”

The announcement was in stark conflict with his threat earlier in the day, when he said “a whole civilization will die tonight” if his demands were not met.

Iran’s foreign minister, Abbas Araqchi, said in a statement that Tehran would cease counterattacks and provide safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz if attacks against it stopped.

Responses to the news came from far and wide.

Oil prices dropped by 15% as stocks surged. The EU’s foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, welcomed the ceasefire as a chance to stop missiles and restart shipping, while Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez criticized the administration in Washington, without explicitly naming it, for having initiated the hostilities.

He said on X that he ‘will not applaud those who set the world on fire just because they turn up with a bucket.’ He nonetheless celebrated the peace.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, who helped mediate the ceasefire, said in a post on X that he had invited the Iranian and US delegations to meet in Islamabad on Friday. Parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf will reportedly head the Iranian negotiating team for talks in Islamabad with US Vice President JD Vance.
