Oregon Murder Convict Arrested by ICE After Being Named on DHS Worst of the Worst List

A Vietnamese man, living illegally in Oregon, is one of five of the several ‘worst of the worst’ criminals listed on the latest U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) website after being highlighted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) as part of a nationwide enforcement push.

Ai Trinh, labeled a ‘criminal illegal alien’ by DHS and ICE, was one of the five men arrested or identified for acts of violence, murder, rape, and armed robbery.

Tidings Insight
DHS runs a public gallery called Arrested: Worst of the Worst, spotlighting recent ICE arrests of noncitizens with serious convictions. A listing is a DHS claim, not a new court judgment.

Trinh was convicted of murder in Multnomah County.

According to Legal Calculators’ webpage, Ai was sentenced to life imprisonment with a 10-year minimum for felony murder and two counts of burglary for a shooting at a gambling house in Portland’s Old Town on February 23, 1991.

Tidings Context
In Oregon, felony murder is charged when a death occurs during certain serious felonies. Sentencing rules tied to ORS 163.115 set life terms and parole review timelines through the Board of Parole.

ICE included Trinh on its new “Worst of the Worst” list, citing him as an example of a violent criminal offender who entered the United States illegally and committed serious crimes while in the country.

The agency emphasized that these cases highlight the public-safety risks posed by criminal noncitizens who remain unlawfully present.
