Nearly 37 Million Pounds of Frozen Food Recalled in Oregon After Glass Contamination Is Reported

Portland-based Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc. is recalling nearly 37 million pounds of its frozen chicken products, such as fried rice, ramen, and dumplings, due to possible contamination with broken glass.

The company had already issued a recall of some frozen not-ready-to-eat (NRTE) chicken products on February 19, but the new recall, issued on March 3, 2026, expands the recall to include 16 total NRTE products that include both chicken and pork, after several complaints were received from people who found glass in their products.

The company’s investigators determined that a vegetable source ingredient, specifically carrots, was the likely source of the glass contamination. So far, no reported injuries have been linked to the recall of the products.

The products being recalled are under the Ajinomoto brand, but also include certain packaged Kroger (Fred Meyer), Ling Ling, Tai Pei, and Trader Joe’s branded products. The recalled products have best-by dates ranging from February 28, 2026, through August 19, 2027, and have the establishment numbers P-18356, P-18356B, or P-47971 inside the USDA inspection mark.
