Man Sentenced After Firing Gun Outside Portland’s Moda Center While Naked and High on Meth

PORTLAND, Ore. — Naked and high on meth when firing a handgun outside the Moda Center during a Trail Blazers game in Portland has led to a six-month jail sentence for Robert D. Hatley.

Judge Adele Ridenour handed down the sentence after the 44-year-old had struck a plea deal with Multnomah County prosecutors. Hatley pleaded guilty to reckless endangerment and to being a felon with a gun.

According to a bail memo, a passerby witnessed Hatley pointing the gun at his head and under his chin before firing the shot into the air. The incident occurred on November 5, 2025.

After his arrest, Hatley told police officers that he had used methamphetamine on four occasions that day.

Police Officers Who Struck Hatley With a Patrol Car Are Back on Active Duty

At the time of the incident, and in an effort to subdue Hatley, police officers Roger Walsh and Bradley Clark struck the naked man with a patrol car. Both officers have since returned to active duty, according to a police spokesperson.

At a hearing on March 17, Judge Ridenour ordered Hatley to attend intensive outpatient services at the *Oregon Change Clinic. She also granted him early release.
