Legacy Health Nurses Strike Heads to Mediation Today as Walkout Enters Fourth Day in Oregon
As the Legacy Health nurses’ strike entered its fourth day, Legacy Health and the Oregon Nurses Association (ONA) agreed to mediation proceedings scheduled to begin on Monday.
Legacy Health Strike Moves To Mediation Phase
ONA is returning to the bargaining table after the health system declined federal mediation and did not engage in bargaining during the 10-day notice period before the strike. While the strike continues, the first mediation session will be held on Monday.
Despite the delay, ONA expressed appreciation for Legacy’s decision to mediate. In the meantime, Legacy Health indicated that, since the strike began on December 2, they have focused on clinical operations to ensure continuity of patient care.
| Fiscal year | Net operating revenue | Income or loss from operations |
|---|---|---|
| 2023 | $2.59B | -$171.7M |
| 2024 | $2.88B | $16.5M |
| 2025 | $2.97B | -$94.6M |
The healthcare provider said they are committed to reaching a fair agreement and offered an average 10% pay increase for all adult specialty advanced practice providers.
The model was based on market data, internal equity, and financial sustainability balanced by Legacy’s economic challenges as a safety-net health system.
