JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. — Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Team (IMET) detectives seized 988 illegal marijuana plants, 22 pounds of processed cannabis, and $3,000 in cash during a search of a black market cannabis grow on a farm in rural Eagle Point.
Suspect is Facing Marijuana Felony Charges
IMET detectives served a search warrant on the premises in the 15200 block of Highway 62 on 10 July. A suspect was detained and is facing charges of felony marijuana manufacture and possession.
No licensing documentation for cannabis growing, handling, or processing has been issued for the Eagle Point farm. During the search, Jackson County Code Enforcement issued $15,000 in fines to the landowner for violating land use conditions, using RVs as dwellings, an illegal second dwelling, and multiple charges for unsafe and illegal electrical, plumbing, and mechanical structural installations.
An investigation by the Oregon Water Resources Department’s Enforcement Division led to a notice of violation for the illegal use and appropriation of groundwater to cultivate an unauthorized crop. The violation is subject to civil and criminal penalties.
IMET focuses on the black market marijuana trade in the Rogue Valley. Their detectives were assisted by Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents and deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
The case has been referred to the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office. Investigations are ongoing.
