Grants Pass Police Arrest Woman for Slashing Victim’s Ear with Army Knife in Baker Park Assault
GRANTS PASS, Ore. — On Monday, the Grants Pass Police Department arrested 20-year-old Kassandrea Sinks, a female suspect in a May 1 altercation in Baker Park that escalated into the victim being slashed across the side of the head with a large “Army Style” knife.
Sergeant Nieminen, from the Grants Pass Police Community Response Team, was contacted by a woman at Baker Park who said she had been injured on her ear on May 1 at about 1:53 p.m.
An investigation revealed that the woman had been slashed with a large knife across her left ear, causing a laceration that later required numerous stitches during an argument inside the park that turned physical after Sinks retaliated by slashing the victim across the side of the head.
Sinks got help hiding from officers and eventually fled the park area, but she was found and arrested by police on Monday. Sinks was lodged at the Josephine County Jail on charges of second-degree Assault and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
