Grants Pass Man Breaks Into Home Naked, Flees With Blanket, Found Hiding in Hedge
GRANTS PASS, Ore. — After a bizarre burglary attempt in the 200 block of West Park Street, Grants Pass, yesterday, the naked suspect fled the scene, but was found in a neighbor’s hedge, where he was arrested.
Grants Pass police responded to a report that an unknown male in his 40s had broken a window and was crawling into the residence at approximately 2:38 AM. The naked man had tattoos and was saying “crazy stuff about saving them from Hermes and goddesses.” He was later identified as 39-year-old Patrick Hermes, of Merlin.
On arrival, Grants Pass Police Officers found the suspect had fled the residence with a stolen blanket, but the adult victim and two children were unharmed. The suspect, who initially refused to identify himself, was found hiding in the hedge of a neighboring yard following a police search involving K9 Maro.
The Hermes-quoting Hermes was placed under arrest before being taken to the Three Rivers Medical Center for treatment of a wound. He had reportedly been injured by the broken window when he entered the residence.
After being medically cleared, Hermes was transported to the Josephine County Jail, where he was lodged on charges of Burglary in the 1st Degree, Theft in the 3rd Degree, Harassment, and a Felony warrant for Parole Violation.
