Five DUII Arrests in Jackson County Include Crashes, a 911 Call, and a Driver Twice the Legal Limit
JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. — Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies had a busy night Saturday. Five people were arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII)
Jackson County DUII Arrests
Alcohol was the contributing factor in four of Saturday night’s arrests, and drugs in one. The first two DUII arrests followed motor vehicle crashes, and the next three suspects were nabbed during traffic stops.
These drivers were arrested and lodged at the Jackson County Jail on DUII charges:
- A single vehicle crashed into a ditch at 5:09 PM near the intersection of Antioch Road and Dodge Road in rural Central Point. There were no reported injuries, but the 34-year-old driver blew a breathalyzer test with a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of .20%, two and a half times the legal limit. The driver also faces reckless driving charges.
- A two-vehicle crash at 7:43 PM on the Gold Hill Bridge left one car stuck on the bridge, blocking both lanes of travel, with a 68-year-old man in the driver’s seat. He acknowledged being drunk and, because he was unable to perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFSTs), he provided a blood test.
- At 9:10 PM, a car driving at a high rate of speed and weaving through traffic on Crater Lake Avenue in Medford was pulled over on Delta Waters Road near the intersection of Crater Lake Avenue. The 49-year-old male driver showed multiple signs of impairment and provided a BAC of .09% at the Jail approximately two hours after the initial stop. He also faces reckless driving charges.
- At 9:17 PM, a man called 911 and told dispatchers he was too drunk to drive in the area of Terr-Mont Street in White City, but, after deputies responded, he called dispatch again to report he was now moving. The 22-year-old man was found at the White City Lil Pantry on Highway 62, where he was visibly intoxicated. His BAC was .24% nearly two hours after the initial call. He also faces reckless driving charges.
- At 11:22 PM, at a traffic stop at Tolo Road and Merita Terrace in rural Central Point, a 35-year-old woman showed signs of impairment and performed SFSTs poorly. Her 0.00% BAC was not consistent with her level of impairment, but she was arrested after an OSP Trooper, a Drug Recognition Expert, responded to evaluate her.
JCSO reminded the public to call 911 if they see a suspected impaired driver.
