Eugene Lyft Driver Allegedly Took the Job to Sell Drugs to Passengers
EUGENE, Ore. — A Lyft driver from Eugene, who allegedly told a passenger that he had taken the job to sell drugs to his customers, was arraigned yesterday, charged with delivery of cocaine, a serious felony that can result in a prison sentence.
The passenger reported the incident that took place on July 4 to the police. The woman told the police that the cab driver, Richard Zisser (41), asked her if she used drugs, saying that he had taken the job so that he could sell drugs to his passengers. He then told her she could contact him using the QR code on the Signal app.
After reporting the incident, the police used the woman’s phone to send Zisser a message, to which he responded with a list of drugs on offer, including LSD, cocaine, Ecstasy, and ketamine.
The police officers organized a meeting with Zisser at the Albertsons store on West 18th Avenue, where he was cited to appear in court. After his appearance on Wednesday, Zisser was ordered to return to court on September 3.
