EUGENE, Ore. — Hundreds of Protesters in Eugene, rallying against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), led to an arrest, injuries to a 30-year-old female resident, and damage to several vehicles on Saturday night.
The Woman was Struck in the Face While the Window of her SUV was Open
The woman suffered facial injuries when she was struck by someone in the crowd while the window of her vehicle was open as she was trying to slowly navigate her SUV through the throng of people.
According to the Eugene Police Department (EPD), people blocking the road near 6th Avenue and Pearl Street began striking her vehicle while she was attempting to maneuver her vehicle through the crowd.
People began striking her vehicle, and as she accelerated, someone on the hood of her SUV fell off while smashing her windshield.
A pedestrian, 19-year-old Alexander Novak of Texas, was treated at the scene and then transported to the local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
EPD issued Novak criminal citations for second-degree criminal mischief and disorderly conduct.
Other vehicles were also damaged during the incident.
