Eagle Point Police Officer Injured, Armed Suspect Killed in Jackson County Shooting

JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. — The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that an Eagle Point Police Department (EPPD) officer responding to a report of a domestic disturbance on Wednesday was involved in a fatal shooting with an armed suspect who was contacted near the Covered Bridge.

The armed suspect died in the shooting on Wednesday, October 15, at 12:13 PM in Eagle Point. The EPPD officer was injured during the incident and taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Sheriff’s Office confirmed that there are no additional suspects and no threat to the public.

The Oregon State Police (OSP) is the lead investigating agency. The crime scene at East Main Street and South Shasta Avenue, along with the surrounding streets, was closed, and the public was asked to avoid the area.
