Ducks Absolutely Dominate Arizona State Sun Devils in a 49-13 Blowout
As the end of the season draws closer, fans all over Oregon were hyped for this penultimate game against the Sun Devils, and boy, they were not disappointed by the outcome.
That’s right, the Ducks have absolutely slammed Arizona State into the ground with a jaw-dropping win of 49-13.
There was hardly a time where the Ducks slowed down in the first half of the game. Each of the first six possessions of Oregon’s side ended with a touchdown. In that first half, they took up a 42-0 halftime lead, and it wasn’t until the second half that they started to taper off with only 7 points to show for it. Their defense was still killer, though, both for not allowing the Devils to get a word in during the beginning (with full hands, have no doubt) and only allowing the 13 points to slip through in the end.
Penalties, for the first time in a long while, were not a problem with the Ducks. They were only flagged 5 times for 45 yards, surprisingly enough.
Let’s talk about some of the players, because believe me, we had some stars out there.
Bo Nix is absolutely killing the game right now, having thrown for nearly 400 yards and scoring 6 touchdowns. He now has 35 touchdowns and 2 interceptions for this season. He’s one of football’s best quarterbacks on the roster, let me tell you that.
We also have to mention Troy Franklin. He ended up with 8 catches for 128 yards, as well as snagging 2 touchdowns, but that’s not the whole of it. He reached a milestone by becoming the program’s leading all-time receiver with 23 career touchdowns, 13 of them being just in this season alone.
Patrick Herbert also needs a shout out, as he came through with 3 catches for 78 yards and had 2 touchdowns. Tez Johnson also made himself known, as usual, with 6 catches for 80 yards and a touchdown. Lastly, Gary Johnson Jr. came to impress with 3 catches, 82 yards, and a touchdown.
So, what’s next? Well, it’s going to be a civil war on Friday as the Oregon Ducks host the Oregon State Beavers in their house for one final game. If the Ducks win this game, it will be their guaranteed ticket to Las Vegas for the Pac-12 Championship.
