Driver in Stolen Vehicle Hits Two Pedestrians in Downtown Portland Before Crashing

PORTLAND, Ore. — A suspect driving a stolen vehicle struck and seriously injured two pedestrians walking in Portland’s Old Town at lunchtime yesterday (Sunday). The stolen vehicle crashed at the intersection of Northwest 6th Avenue and Northwest Glisan Street.

 

The Driver Was Not Injured and Taken Into Custody

According to the police, the pedestrians were seriously injured in the incident. They were taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for their significant injuries. The police say the driver appeared to have lost control of the vehicle. He escaped injury and was taken into custody.

Members of the Portland Police Bureau Major Crash Team cordoned off the area for further investigation.

Officers from the PPB Central Precinct had attempted to stop the driver of the stolen vehicle earlier in the city-center area of Northwest 9th Avenue and West Burnside Street.
