Douglas County Narcotics Raid in Curtin Uncovers Illegal Pot Grow, Meth, and Guns
DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. — A Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) investigation into an illicit marijuana grow in Curtin culminated in the detention of 8 people on Wednesday. Two were arrested.
Armed with a search warrant obtained after an investigation established the likelihood of illegal activity, DINT detectives executed the search warrant, with assistance from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 3:00 PM.
Eight people were detained, and a search revealed approximately 30 growing marijuana plants, 12 grams of suspected methamphetamine, and multiple firearms. None of the marijuana was being grown legally under Oregon law.
Two Curtin men were arrested:
- 52-year-old Jason Newman: Suspected to be responsible for some of the illegally growing marijuana plants, Newman was cited for Unlawful Possession and Unlawful Manufacture of Marijuana and released from the scene.
- 47-year-old Shaun Borg: Also suspected to be responsible for the marijuana plants, as well as the alleged methamphetamine found at the scene, Borg, a previously convicted felon, was also in possession of 4 firearms despite being prohibited from possessing firearms under Oregon law. He is charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine, and Unlawful Manufacture of Marijuana, as well as four counts of Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
Borg was arrested and lodged at the Douglas County Jail.
