Dan Lanning: “This is my most talented roster since I started here.”

EUGENE, Ore. — The Oregon Ducks will have a historic college football season ahead in 2024. In addition to playing in the Big Ten for the first time, the Ducks are expected to win their new conference, which also includes Michigan and Ohio State.

Oregon did not sign up to play in the Big Ten for fun and games. It is a serious game, and the Ducks want to win more than just the conference.

Oregon’s head coach, Dan Lanning, believes his team is ready to accomplish just that.

On Wednesday, he said, “Our new roster has plenty of talent on it, but we have to play in games to see how we come together as a team. Since we have been here, I have not had a roster this talented.”

That is a huge statement from Lanning, and it puts a big target on the Ducks. This is especially true in light of the amazing teams he assembled in his first two years in Eugene. The good news is that they are aware of it and will be well-prepared for it.

Lanning said, “Between now and the games, I believe we have a lot of work ahead of us. However, I believe that we have all the pieces in place to form a strong team; as for how that turns out, only time will tell. It will all hinge on our off-season work. You know, winning a game does not happen on paper. It is about practicing. You have to come together as a team, and we will be doing just that over the next few months.”

In addition to having one of the best recruiting classes in the nation, Oregon is also dominating the transfer portal. The Big Ten may regret inviting the Ducks after this upcoming season.
