Cliff Fall Turns Fatal at Remote Swimming Spot Outside Ashland
ASHLAND, Ore. — Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies responding to reports that a man had disappeared into deep water after falling from a cliff on Thursday evening at a swimming hole off of Dead Indian Memorial Road outside Ashland indicated that the man had tragically drowned.
JCSO deputies and the county’s Search and Rescue (SAR) responded to recover the remains of the deceased, whose name is not being released out of respect for the family’s privacy in this difficult time.
JCSO Medical Examiner detectives are investigating the incident, which occurred at 7:19 PM on Wednesday at the rock quarry reservoir in the 500 block of Keno Access Road outside of Ashland.
The initial investigation revealed that the man reportedly fell from a cliff at the water’s edge before disappearing into the deep water. No suspicious circumstances were observed on the scene.
Police have not released additional information available at this time.
