Responding to a report of an active shooter at approximately 5:22 a.m. Oregon State Police (OSP) and local agencies encountered Mader, who shot a firearm at responding Officers before fleeing on foot. He was 200 yards away in a field next to the freeway. No injuries were reported.

Prosecutors confirmed yesterday that Mader faces Attempted Murder in the First Degree, Attempted Assault in the First Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon (4 counts), Criminal Mischief in the First Degree, Recklessly Endangering Another Person, DUII (Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants), and Reckless Driving charges in the Jackson County Circuit Court.

A bail of $1 million was secured at a Monday court hearing, and Mader’s arraignment on the indictment is scheduled for later this week. He will remain in custody at the Jackson County Jail. OSP is still investigating the incident, and additional charges may still be added.
