Oregon Man Arrested After Dogs Stolen From Coos County Animal Shelter Are Found
Several dogs were stolen from the Coos County Animal Shelter, located at 92960 Southport Road, Coos Bay, Oregon, during a burglary on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning.
After responding to reports of the burglary on April 1st, 7:35 a.m., a Coos County Sheriff’s officer learned that someone had broken into the shelter and stolen several dogs.
- Apr. 1, 7:35 a.m. : deputy responds to shelter burglary report.
- Later that day : citizen reports dogs and suspect near Coos Bay McDonald’s.
- Same day : deputies question Annon and recover the dogs.
- After arrest : dogs return to shelter and Annon is booked into jail.
Responding to a press release asking the public to be on the lookout for the stolen dogs, a citizen called the Sheriff’s Office later that day and reported seeing the dogs and a possible suspect near McDonald’s in Coos Bay.
Dallan J. Annon (40) was with the stolen dogs and, after being questioned, was arrested on the charges of Theft I, Burglary II, and Criminal Mischief II. The dogs were returned to the custody of the Coos County Animal Shelter, and Annon was taken to the Coos County Jail.
