University of Oregon Faculty Union Establishes Legal Defense Fund to to Protect Members Targeted by ICE

EUGENE, Ore. — A fund has been created to protect Oregon University faculty members targeted for unlawful conduct by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The United Academics of the University of Oregon passed a union policy earlier this week to create a legal defense fund, declaring itself an official sanctuary union.

The organization passed the sanctuary union policy with the help and guidance of multiple committees to create a legal defense fund and has invited the university’s administration to join them.
