A Southern Oregon University student was presented with a Citizen Life Saving Award from the Ashland Police Department on Thursday.

On March 13, SOU student and Ashland resident Brandon Montague found a man in distress in the parking lot of a local restaurant where he works. Montague, a combat medic for the Army National Guard, administered CPR and saved the person's life, according to the Ashland Police Department. 

The award was presented from chief Tighe O'Meara to Montague in front of the department, Montague's family and members of the Army National Guard.
