Election Endorsements

With the election right around the corner, The Tidings discussed potential endorsements for the City Council seats.

Topic One - Council Seat 1 & 6: Alice Hardesty runs unopposed. The editors offered varying perspectives on the reasons why Hardesty has no challenger. In Seat 6, Incumbent David Chapman is missing in action against homeless challenger Randy Dolinger. The editors lamented the notion that Chapman doesn't have to do anything because Dolinger can't scare up enough support, even from among those who really like him and agree with his views.

Topic Two - Council Seat 4: Incumbent Kate Jackson faces challengers John Stromberg, Bruce Harrell and Nick Frost. The editors narrowed the field to Jackson versus Stromberg. The discussion included an analysis of each candidate.

Topic Three - Council Seat 2: Eric Navickas versus Greg Lemhouse (a.k.a. The Radical Activist vs The Medford Cop). The editors engaged in a spirited discussion about the merits of each candidate.

The Tidings Editorial Board will soon release its endorsements. Look for them this week in the Ashland Daily Tidings.
