EAGLE POINT — Zakk Scott scored 11 points, grabbed nine rebounds and hit a key 3-pointer in the fourth quarter as Eagle Point pulled away from Ashland late for a 51-45 Midwestern League victory Tuesday at Eagle Point High School.

Scott received a kickout pass from brother Levi Scott and sank a 3 with about 3 minutes to go to give the Eagles a seven-point cushion, and Toby Hoppes took a charge at the other end to help clinch the victory for Eagle Point, which trailed by a point entering the fourth quarter.

Levi Scott added 11 points, five assists and two steals and Hoppes eight rebounds for the Eagles (3-12, 2-3 MWL), who snapped a three-game losing streak.

Adam Jones hit five 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 17 points to lead the Grizzlies (5-10, 1-4), who were held to eight points in the fourth. KJ Pippa added nine points and Anthony Swanson six.

College Athletics

Southern Oregon University's winter sports teams produced 15 Academic All-Cascade Collegiate Conference honorees, the CCC office announced Tuesday.

To be eligible for recognition, one must have been enrolled at their current school for at least a year and reached sophomore academic standing with a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A total of 122 student-athletes from the conference's men's wrestling, men's basketball and women's basketball teams earned the honor.
