Evan McLennan hit a double and scored three runs and Gus Senn went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored as Ashland beat Klamath Falls 9-8 to earn a doubleheader split and end its season on a high note Wednesday at North Mountain Park.

Klamath Falls took the first game of the American Legion A doubleheader, 9-1, on the strength of Zach Gibson's standout pitching performance.

In Game 2, Ashland needed only two hits to score four runs in the first inning, taking advantage of a walk, two hit batsmen and an error. In the second, a double by McLennan and RBI single by Rowan Amman highlighted a two-run inning that helped the Pilots (4-18) take a 6-4 lead.

Ashland scored three in the third on two hits, including an RBI single by Eli Westrick, then survived Klamath Falls' comeback bid when Gibson popped up with the tying run at third with two outs in the seventh.

Gibson held Ashland to one run on three hits in six innings in the opener.
