Southern Oregon University's spring sports teams produced eight Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes, bringing the Raider athletic department's total to 29 for the 2016-17 school year.

To qualify for the accolade, one must be at least a junior academically with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 or better and at least one year of enrollment at their current institution.

The Raider track and field team was represented by Aspen Abbott (pre-physical therapy major), Marisa D'Orfani (accounting), Jessa Perkinson (psychology), Morgan Pfunder (business marketing), Kevin Poteracke (financial mathematics) and Ray Schireman (biochemistry) — all of whom were also honored in the fall.

SOU's softball team landed two honorees: Davalin Ontiveros (health and P.E.) and Kelsey Randall (business).
