For the second week in a row, Southern Oregon University's Zach Beltz on Monday was named the Cascade Collegiate Conference Field Athlete of the Week.

An improved performance warranted another award for the sophomore jumper. At Saturday's Sacramento State Hornet Invitational, he long-jumped 23 feet 10 ¼ inches to qualify automatically for the NAIA Outdoor Championships and place fifth of 55 total entries.

Beltz, a product of Elmira, Ore., who won the CCC long jump title as a freshman, debuted at 23-2 on March 11 at Chico State. The new and improved mark put him at No. 3 on the NAIA list. He also went 42-11 ¾ in the triple jump, which tops a CCC list that to this point only includes jumpers from Corban.

Beltz and the Raiders are slated to compete Friday and Saturday at the American River Multis/Invitational in Sacramento. They're closing in on their first home meet, the Raider Invitational on April 14-15.
