archy & mehitabel: Jim Giancarlo directs and choreographs Oregon Cabaret Theatre’s staging of the quirky bohemian poetry of Don Marquis. Archy is a philosopher-poet in the body of a cockroach; mehitabel is a free-spirited cat who claims to have been Cleopatra in a past life. The jazzy score is by George Kleinsinger and Joe Darion with a hilarious book by Mel Brooks. The event will benefit St. Clair Productions and the Eagle Mill Farm Education Project. Accompanying Oglesby will be Sanford Moore, minister of music at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church in Minneapolis. Tickets are $15 at the door.

ashland city band: The 70-piece band will perform show tunes, marches, standards and originals at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14, at the Butler Band Shell in Lithia Park, Ashland.
