Justice before allegiance

Rabbi Jacqueline Brodsky (May 31) tells us to learn the facts about whether Israel is stealing the Palestinians' water by citing the Israeli group NGO Monitor which, according to Wikipedia, "analyzes from a pro-Israel perspective."

According to a story in Haaretz (Israel's premier newspaper) on June 22, 2016,  however, "Water is the only issue in which Israel (still) finds it difficult to defend its discriminatory, oppressive and destructive policy." In truth, Israel steals Palestinian water and sells it back to the Palestinians at inflated prices.

To address all of Rabbi Brodsky's "facts" would take a book. But to the general public not invested in this subject as much as Rabbi Brodsky or myself, ponder this: Why do hundreds of thousands of American Jews (who grew up being taught to support Israel — myself included) now oppose Israel and its apartheid policies? It's because these Jews place justice ahead of religious allegiance.
