August 14, 1934 - January 29, 2018
Patricia was born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania to Lawrence and Prudence Goodall. Patricia, 83, passed away at her home in Ashland, Oregon. She was a home health nurse retired from Ashland Community Hospital after years nursing in San Francisco, Berkley, Napa, Walnut Creek, and other areas.
During five days in the hospital and nine days of hospice, Pat was in the care of her husband, Ed, and all the members of her family. Everyone had one-on-one time to express their love and caring for her.
Those present were her son, “Rob” of Auburn, Maine; her brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Cheryl Goodall of Redwood City, California; her sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Michael Maloney of Bend, Ore., their daughter, Grace Hatfield and son, Teige Maloney (Linda and Grace are both registered nurses). Ed’s son, Tom, a professional guitarist and singer provided four days of peaceful, spiritual music, with his wife, Dr. Hope McCurry accompanying him. Pat’s heart was clearly touched by the music, as were all present. Contributing to a holy atmosphere surrounding Patricia’s passing, Rev. Richenda Fairhurst, minister at First Methodist Church led us in a brief, loving farewell ceremony with laying on of hands and prayers. Larry and Cheryl Goodall were present and supporting us during the entire process. Our most intimate neighbors, Linda Terry and her husband, David Shindelman announced shortly after Pat’s passing that they would be providing the dinner that evening. It was a beautiful celebration of Pat’s life, a joyous time. All family members were involved in cooking, cleaning, giving medication, and caring in every way. Mark and Angela McCurry gave follow up support by their presence, hard work, and caring. Ed’s daughter, Karen Beels and her husband, Brian visited Pat in the hospital.
All in all, Pat had a beautiful passing, filled with love. All members of the hospice team did a perfect job of meeting Pat’s needs and supporting all of us.
A memorial service is being planned at First Methodist Church in Ashland.
