On Saturday, December 30, 2017, long time Ashland resident Sarah Berman passed away at 101 and 9 months.
Sarah and her late husband Al moved from Chicago to Los Angeles in 1948. They pioneered their way north to Ashland in 1972 and ran “As You Like It” Antiques for more than 44 years.
Sarah is survived by her baby sister, Loretta (94); her four children, Steve (Harriet), Mitch (Joan), Elinor, and Melody (Jeff); her four grandchildren, Seth (Charla), Rachel, Josh, and Julian; her four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Sarah was an enthusiastic, vibrant woman who loved Ashland, loved talking to everyone, and listening to people’s stories which she never forgot. She was a keen observer of the growth and changes taking place in Ashland. She will be missed by the crew who she saw daily at Ruby’s or Café 116, her family, friends, and her four lovely caregivers.
If you would like to donate in her honor, please consider the ACLU, Ashland Culture of Peace, or an environmental group of your choice.
