July 19, 1927 - July 17, 2017
Maus Bailey, 89, passed away peacefully July 17, 2017 in Medford, Oregon with his wife, Marianne by his side after a brief battle with cancer. Maus was born July 19, 1927 in San Francisco, California to Truman and Rosalie (Maus) Bailey.
After graduating from Rye, New York High School, then Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, Maus began work as a chemical engineer in Virginia, and he cared for his siblings, Gladys (Hap), Truman, and Nigel.
Maus became father to three children, Bryan, Laura, and Briana. On June 2, 1979 Maus married Marianne Roehnelt. They lived in Palo Alto, Calif. with Marianne's two children, Bernhard (Bernie) and Doretta Flather, while he worked at Lockheed in Sunnyvale as an aeronautics engineer. Maus and Marianne enjoyed 39 years of marriage. They loved to travel and explored other countries like Europe, New Zealand, Alaska, Australia, and the beautiful Northwest of the U.S.
Maus was a very special person, sensitive, kind, patient, and he handled life with a good sense of humor. Maus was a lifetime Yale alumni member and was a great lover of classical music and the visual arts.
Maus was a caring father, step-father, a grandfather to 13 grandchildren, and was very attentive to several nephews and nieces.
A celebration of life for Maus will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
