Marcia Ann LaVia, 85, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2017 in Medford, Oregon. She was born December 10, 1931 in Central Point, Ore. to Gibson and Vi Vincent.
Marcia graduated from Crater High School and was a life-long resident of the Rogue Valley. During her lifetime, she worked as a bookkeeper and secretary, and was co-owner of Crater Music Co. Marcia belonged to the PTA and the Oregon Amusement Operations Association.
On May 1, 1951, Marcia married James Carl LaVia in San Diego, California. In the late 1940s she fed German youth POWs at Camp White. Beginning in 1959, she spent several years providing clothing to school children. She enjoyed ocean fishing and stock car racing.
Marcia is survived by her son, James Duane LaVia (Jenny) and daughter, Karla Ann LaVia, of Medford Ore.; sister, Leatha Anderson, Hartland, Wisconsin; and brother, Wayne Vincent, Central Point, Ore. She was preceded in death by her husband, James LaVia; her parents, Gibson and Vi Vincent; brothers, Howard, James, George, and Arthur Vincent; and sisters, Edith Walden and Gladys Muse.
A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m., August 5, 2017 at Conger-Morris Central Point Chapel, followed at 1:30 p.m. by a graveside service, at Siskiyou Memorial Cemetery in Medford, Ore. Nephew Gary Vincent officiating. Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the American Cancer Society in Central Point, Ore.
