Bill was born in his grandparent's farm house in Aromas, California January 16, 1935. He ended his battle with dementia June 5, 2017 at home in Gresham, Oregon in the presence of his wife, Alyce Wagner-Porter, and his five children.
He loved the out of doors: hiking, boating, waterskiing, fishing, camping, and especially his following passions; golfing, downhill skiing, and being a private pilot flying the Pacific Northwest.
Bill worked in the automotive industry for 43 years from San Jose, Calif. - Ashland, Medford, and Portland, Ore. - Vancouver, Washington as a salesman, sales manager, and a general manger. At one point he also owned a wholesale car business in Ashland.
He is survived by Alyce of 20 years; daughter, Karri (James) DeVos of Ruch, Ore.; sons, Bill (Kathy) Porter of Medford, Ore. and Eric (Barbara) Porter of Dunsmuir, Calif.; step-daughters, Jamey (Jim) Bixler of Beaverton, Ore. and Jann Turner of Damascus, Ore.; seven grandchildren, Scott, Leslea, Kimberly, Krista, Sara, Drew, and Morgan, and seven great- grandchildren.
