May 15, 1933 - June 18, 2017
Wanda Jo Wood, 84, went to join her beloved husband, mother, father and brother June 18, 2017. She passed away peacefully at her home with her family.
Wanda was born May 15, 1933 in Blevins, Arkansas to Clyde and Mary. Her father and mother raised their family of four children on their farm until eventually all of them moved to Ashland, Oregon. Wanda was active in her church, loved going to the coast, spending time with her family, and being outside. Her favorite hobby was her garden. The planting, nurturing, harvesting, and storing was indeed her passion.
Wanda's lifelong call was nursing, which she enjoyed for 48 years. The last 28 of those years were spent at her second home, Ashland Community Hospital. As an LPN she took her job of caring for people as she would want to be cared for herself. The people she helped were countless. Doctors, nurses, and other employees called her their friend, and she did the same.
In 1952, Wanda met Graham, the man she would love forever. In 1953 they married, and two years later had their only child, Steven. They were happily married until 1968 when Graham passed away. Wanda would never marry again and when asked why not, she would say, "I could never love another like I loved him." Her wait for their reunion is finally over.
Her life was filled with a very close family and countless friends. She is survived by her son, Steven; daughter-in-law Kimberly; grandson, Dusty, his wife Stephanie, and great-grandson Casen; sisters, Helen Troutman and Janie Sills and brother-in-law John Sills; many nephews; nieces; and her best friend, Sandy Lutz.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., July 1, 2017, at the 1st Baptist Church in Phoenix, OR (4655 S. Pacific Hwy., Phoenix)
