December 10, 1941 - March 3, 2017

James Laurence Moreland, 75, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017. Jim was born December 10, 1941 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Helen Moreland (Hill) and Charles Moreland. He married Linda Lovelady in May 1984. This was the second marriage for both of them.

Jim earned a bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from Temple University in Philadelphia and was an engineer for Optical Scanning Corporation and Dupont Instrument Products. He was also Chief Engineer for divisions of Eaton Corporation and Teleflex Corporation. His biggest joy was historic restoration, and he worked on many Founding Fathers' houses in Fairmount Park in Philadelphia. He was on the board of the Civic Association in Lansdowne, Penn. and was also on the Code Enforcement Appeals Board in Lansdowne.

Jim's hobbies included fishing, boating, working on old cars, restoring old boats, and making model airplanes. He also meticulously restored a 1906 home in Lansdowne for Linda and himself.

Jim and Linda moved to Ashland in 2013 and enjoyed traveling and camping with their trailer. Jim loved people and always had a ready smile. He will be missed by friends and family.

Jim is survived by his wife, Linda; step-daughters, Stephanie Lovelady and Sara Lovelady; daughter-in-law, Elizabeth Allen; and grandchildren, Noah Lovelady-Allen, June Lovelady-Allen, and Lily-Mei Lovelady. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles and Bob.

A Celebration of Life will take place April 9, 2017 in Talent.
