Cyclists can choose from routes ranging from 4 to 62 miles in the Pedals ‘n Pears “Pedal for a Cause” bike rides that will be part of Medford’s Pear Blossom Festival April 14.
The fundraising cycling event will start and end at Bear Creek Park. Four rides will be available, with lengths of 4, 14, 30 and 62 miles. The 4-mile Comice Family Ride will start at 8:30 a.m.; the others will start at 8 a.m.
With the exception of the Family Ride, the rides will take city streets to South Stage Road and will pass through some of Medford’s original pear orchards along Carpenter Hill Road and Voorhies Road. The Royal Riviera (62-mile) Ride will take riders into the Applegate Valley and back. All distances will have support crews and rest stops along the route.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Family Nurturing Center, Wilderness Trails, Hearts With a Mission, Coyote Trails School of Nature and programs supported by Medford Rogue Rotary Club, which is organizing and managing the rides.
Following the rides, there will be music, food and a beer garden in Bear Creek Park.
