Ashland High School Performing Arts is presenting the 1992 Tony Award Winner for Best Musical: Gershwin’s "Crazy for You," in eight performances between March 1 and March 11 in the school's theater.

Directed by Chris Williams and featuring 32 student actors, 25 technicians and 10 musicians, the musical has been hailed by one critic as "a great, glorious, glamorous, goldmine of a show.”

The "Crazy for You" music is by George Gershwin, lyrics by Ira Gershwin and screenplay by Ken Ludwig. The musical comedy includes the classic tunes “I Got Rhythm,” “Embraceable You,” “But Not For Me,” “They Can't Take That Away From Me,” “Nice Work if You Can Get It” and “Who Could Ask for Anything More?"

The play is about a wealthy Manhattan ne'er-do-well — the stage-stuck Bobby Child (Nur Shelton) — who ends up in a poor Nevada mining town, where he rescues a bankrupt theater and wins the local girl, Polly Baker (Audrey Cirzan). Featured seniors also include Zoe Lishinsky, Kyle Storie, Sierra Milburn, Julia Laurenson, Avram Rosewood, Taylor Kelly-McMahon and Dylan Kistler.

The play's creative team includes Suzanne Seiber as the choreographer, Travis Moddison as orchestra director and Karl Iverson as musical accompanist. Emily Ehrlich-Inget and Cherelle Guyton are the costume designers; Bart Grady is the lighting designer and Dave Pedersen is the set coordinator. Coleman Wheeler is the technical director and Stephen Connolly is the master carpenter. Stage Manager Madison Fung is assisted by Amaya Davis and Aurora Duval.

Ashland High School's Mountain Avenue Theatre is at 201 South Mountain Ave. The show runs for two weekends and includes eight performances: 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, March 1-3 and March 8-10, and two Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. March 4 and 11. There will be no previews for this show.
