The Mt. Ashland Ski Area has opened more lifts and runs today as snow continues to fall — with more snow predicted to fall daily for the next week.
According to the ski area, the Ariel chairlift has opened today, along with the Sonnet terrain park.
The mountain has received about 20 inches of snow over the past week, bringing its total to 55 inches at the summit and 27 inches at the lodge. The National Weather Service predicts another 3 to 5 inches of snow will fall today. The Weather Services says snow is either likely or possible every day through next Friday, with up to 9 inches falling Sunday and Sunday night.
Mt. Ashland, which had been open for only eight days this season due to a lack of snow, reopened Friday.
The ski area has announced it will be open every day during Spring Break, March 24-April 1. It also will hold its final Mid-Winter Jam of the season on Friday, March 2, followed by the Big Mountain Bash on March 17 and the Dummy Downhill on March 18.
The ski area warns drivers to expect snow and slippery conditions on the access road.
