Eighteen area arts and cultural organizations have received more than $31,000 in grant funds from the Jackson County Cultural Coalition, according to a news release.

The recipients "support and promote arts, heritage and humanities in Jackson County," the release said.

The coalition is a local affiliate of the Oregon Cultural Trust, which raises and invests funds in Oregon arts, humanities and heritage programs, and distributes them to local communities.

Each of the 18 recipients received between $800 and $3,000. The total allocation was $31,124.

Organizations to receive funds include the Ashland New Plays Festival, Ballet Folkorico Ritmo Alegre, Boys & Girls Club of the Rogue Valley, Camelot Theatre, Craterian Performances, Gold Hill Community Development Organization, Jackson County Library Foundation, Kids Unlimited, Modern Roots Foundation, Rogue Valley Chorale, Rogue Valley Genealogical Society, SMART, Rogue Valley Symphony, Rogue World Music, Southern Oregon Railway Historical Society, Southern Oregon Repertory Singers, SOPTV and Southern Oregon University's Hannon Library.
