Mt. Ashland will open to the public for its first "Midwinter Jam" of the season from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday. New for 2018, the Midwinter Jams will feature free ski and snowboard tuning, "Rail Jams" on the Sonnet slope, free Moose Munch and s'mores, and gear and prizes from Sierra Nevada Brewing.

The Terrain Park will be open to contestants from 4 to 6 p.m., with Rail Jam registration from 3 to 4 p.m., Rail Jam practice from 4 to 5 p.m., and Rail Jam competition from 5 to 6 p.m.

The Terrain Park will be open to public (for $7 a ticket) from 6 to 9 p.m.

Eight Dollar Mountain plays in the lodge from 5 to 9 p.m.

Food and drink will be for sale in the Granite Grill. The T-Bar will be open, serving up beverages, including pint cans from event sponsors Sierra Nevada Brewing. The rest of the ski area remains closed, awaiting snow, and no rentals or lessons will be available.
