Festival of Light: The 25th annual Ashland Festival of Light begins every year the day after Thanksgiving, which this year is Friday, Nov. 24, to kick off the holiday season. There is entertainment on the Plaza, followed by Santa’s Parade at 5 p.m. and the Grand Illumination after dark, with a countdown led by Santa and Mrs. Claus, who flick the switch on more than a million lights all over downtown. Magic Show: Magical Michael will perform a free interactive magic show at 1:30 and 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 25, during a Holiday Open House from noon to 5 p.m. at The Northwest Nature Shop, 154 Oak St., Ashland. Ashland International Folk Dancers: The group meets Fridays at the Ashland Community Center, 59 Winburn Way, to perform dances from Eastern and Western Europe, Greece, Scandinavia, Israel, Turkey and the Middle East.
