The Rotary Club of Ashland will give its Student of the Month award for November to Luna Dygert, a student at Ashland Middle School, at its meeting Thursday, Nov. 16.
Joann Pinder, Luna’s teacher at Ashland Middle School, tells the club Luna is an all-around stellar student — conscientious, responsible, enthusiastic, well-rounded and who's earned a 4.0 grade-point average out of 4.0 points.
Luna’s mother, Vivian Diaz-Dygert, says Luna has formed a very nice relationship with her teacher in a very short time. Luna’s experience at Ashland Middle School has been overwhelmingly positive. Luna’s parents are very proud of her scholastic achievements. Luna always tries her best, loves to experience new things, and challenges herself. More than that, her parents love the person she is. Her special personality has been recognized since she was a baby.
Vivian and her husband, Dr. Timo Dygert, say that Luna has a glow about her. She radiates warmth and kindness. Luna has always had a keen awareness of other’s feelings, and is very considerate and sympathetic. She is a wonderful sister and role model to her two younger brothers who are 8 and 5 years old. Luna is a kind, generous and loyal friend.
The family has moved several times due to Dr. Dygert’s career. Ashland Middle School is the fifth school Luna has attended after moving from Wisconsin last year. Moving is not an easy experience for anyone, but Luna always transitioned well and makes new friends easily. She always seems to find new hobbies and activities in which to become involved. They cannot wait to see where the future takes her.
The family was excited to hear the news about Luna’s selection as Rotary Student of the Month and thanks Rotary for honoring Luna and other students in this way.
