Ashland's five-nights-a-week winter shelter program for the homeless starts Sunday, Nov. 12. It takes a lot of volunteers to keep the shelters, located at one city and two church sites, open so homeless can sleep indoors.
Volunteer training is set for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8. The volunteer training is for anyone interested in hosting homeless or just finding out more.
The training will be at First Presbyterian Church, 1615 Clark Ave., Ashland.
Last winter, more than 120 community volunteers provided more than 31,000 volunteer hours over 112 nights of shelter serving more than 1,000 guests.
