Laurie Lewis and the Right Hands

Smoked Salmon Fest

The fourth annual Southern Oregon Smoked Salmon Fest will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at Pear Blossom Park, 312 E. Fourth St., Medford. Look for live music by Intuitive Compass and 221 Fly, regional craft brews and wine, food samples from Bella Union and other vendors and family-friendly activities. The smoked salmon competition offers a $1,000 first-place prize. Admission is $25, $10 for ages 17-20. Kids 16 and younger get in free. Proceeds benefit the Maslow Project, which provides advocacy and support services to homeless youth and families throughout Jackson and Josephine counties.

Occidental Gypsy

The New England-based group will perform new world Gypsy jazz — a blend of Gypsy swing, jazz and world music — at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at Paschal Winery, 1122 Suncrest Road, Talent. Medford Railroad Park

The park is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. the second and fourth Sundays of each month through October at the intersection of Table Rock Road and Berrydale Avenue, Medford. Visitors can ride diesel trains and a motor car, view unique model railroad layouts and the Hogwarts Express, send and receive telegrams, tour historical railroad equipment and more. Admission is free, but donations are accepted.

'Seven Dreams of Falling'

It's modern day and Icarus of Greek mythology is weary of falling out of the sky over and over. His father, Daedalus, now a press agent, has turned the boy's embarrassment and humiliation into an annual event. It's time for a career change, and he plots his escape from doomed repetition in playwright C. Scott Wilkerson's comedy running through Oct. 1 at Collaborative Theatre Project, 555 Medford Center, Medford.
