Local report

Ashland New Plays Festival (ANPF) is looking for volunteer script readers to help make selections for the festival's 2018 performances.

ANPF expects to receive 400 previously unproduced plays prior to the December 2107 deadline. Volunteer readers individually read and score roughly 50 to 60 plays each year over a five-month period. The top-scoring 12 plays are submitted to ANPF's artistic director for review and final determination of the four top plays. The winning plays are produced in the Fall Festival in October.

Readers are provided training and placed into groups for review and discussion of the assigned plays.

Ashland New Plays Festival, a non-profit organization, assists playwrights in the development of new works through public readings and offers an educational forum to the community through discussions and workshops.
