Longtime Ashland Parks & Recreation Commission employee and current interim Parks Superintendent Jeffrey McFarland received a conservation award recently from the Southern Oregon Land Conservancy (SOLC).

McFarland was honored for his lifetime contributions to conservation in the Southern Oregon region. The award was presented at the annual SOLC picnic and member meeting on Saturday, June 3, at the Rogue River Preserve, a 352-acre property along the Rogue River.

SOLC works cooperatively with landowners and communities to conserve special places (such as the Rogue River Preserve) into the future.
